5 Anti-ageing benefits of Reiki

Originating in Japan, Reiki represents the channeling of the universal life energy. Many of you will be aware of how positive thoughts engender positive results; Reiki works in a similar fashion.

Therapists place their hands on or hovering just above the skin and the principle is that the therapist can then channel energy into the patient.

Let’s take a look at how Reiki can be beneficial in slowing down the aging process.

Increase energy

Reiki helps to reset the energy in your body. When the universal life energy is applied to your body, it encourages your own natural healing abilities.

By maintaining the balance of energy in your body through Reiki, and keeping it at an optimal level, you stay vital and healthy.

At a basic level, ageing occurs when cells die off faster than they can be replaced. Reiki slows down the aging process by nurturing the energy of newly growing cells.

Look younger

Stress, anxiety and grief can all have an affect the way we look. It affects our skin, making it appear dull, causing wrinkles and the loss of elasticity.

When we are stressed we tend to breathe shallowly, depriving our skin cells and vital organs of much-needed oxygen.

Reiki is known to calm and relax the patient, allowing for slower and deeper breathing. Oxygen is transported to the whole body and tension and fine lines start to disappear.

The balance of energy in the body is restored and the skin feels and looks rejuvenated.

Feel younger

Reiki boosts and restores the energy levels, and along with that comes improved health and vitality. Our bodies function more effectively when tension is relieved and your own unique balance in mind, body and spirit is achieved.

Reiki treatment is also known to reduce blood pressure, heart rate and stress hormones, making you feel healthier and younger with each successive treatment.

Healing illness

Miracle cures for disease will be sought after for all of eternity, and to those who ask the question; “Does Reiki cure?”, the answer would have to be, “No”.

However, if the mind-set is right and there is a belief that in order to cure an illness the whole self needs to be healed, then Reiki can play a positive role in the healing journey.

A wonderful example of how Reiki can combat illness is the case of Mrs. Hawayo Takata. At the age of 34 she was suffering from kidney problems, asthma and tumors and felt like an old woman. After four months of Reiki treatment in Tokyo, at Dr. Chujiro Hayashi’s Reiki clinic, she made a complete recovery.

She went on to become a Reiki Master Practitioner, and continued to reap its benefits for the rest of her life. At the time of her death in 1980 she looked at least 20 years younger than her actual age of 80.

Holistic approach

Managing stress, getting enough exercise, a healthy diet and a good skin care regime all contribute to slowing down the ageing process. Reiki integrates with this holistic approach to combating premature ageing. Adding Reiki treatments to your regular routine holds so many benefits, not just to fight off ageing.

Strive to strike the right balance within your mind, body and spirit by taking proper care of yourself, and you will reap the rewards with a long, healthy and happy life.
